Tart and sweet plums and plump cherries form a simple stewed compote and layer with @simplemills white cake and berry whipped cream.

Did you know that the order in which we eat things Did you know that the order in which we eat things can directly affect our blood sugar response? 🍪 

This is especially important in young children with developing brains. If kiddos are given a sweet treat like a cookie stand alone, it will spike blood sugar which can lead to hyperactivity, tantrums, meltdowns and more. 

We still want to let them ENJOY the summer sweet treats, so what can we do?🍪🍪🍪

Add in protein & fiber-rich foods BEFORE or WITH the sweet treat🍪🧀🍇

Snacks used in our picnic🍊🥨:
Protein: @organicvalley cheese sticks, @chomps meat sticks & @thenewprimal kids meat sticks, @applegate turkey pepperoni 
Complex carbs/fats: 🍇, 🍊, @ellasflats seed crackers, honey toasted nuts 
Salty: @lesserevilsnacks 🍿 @fitjoy 🥨 and @bouldercanyon 🥔 chips all fried in 🥑 oil 
Sweets: my Paleo Pear Berry Muffins (on my site)🫐

RECIPE🍒🍫🍧 Cherry Garcia Overnight Oats ( RECIPE🍒🍫🍧

Cherry Garcia Overnight Oats
(yields 8 portions)

3 cups GF rolled oats (I used @bobsredmill)
3.5 cups coconut or almond milk (I used @threetreesfoods almond milk)
2 scoops (or servings) chocolate protein powder (I used @paleovalley)
2 scoops (or servings) powdered collagen (I just @perfectsupplements)
2 Tablespoons chia seeds 
1/4 teaspoon mineral salt 
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 
1/4 cup honey
1 Tablespoon MCT coconut oil
1/4 cup cashew butter 
1/3 cup chocolate chips (I used @lilys_sweets no sugar added)
2/3 cup fresh cherries, pitted and chopped, plus more to garnish 

Mix everything up in a large bowl and chill overnight. Serve topped with a splash of preferred milk, a dash of maple syrup and enjoy!🍒🍫
