if you have a bar cart collecting dust or feel like it’s cluttered and cramped, it may be time for a simple holiday bar cart restyle! This takes just a few simple steps to de-clutter and simplify. you can also utilize decor and barware you likely have around the house. we recently restyled the bar cart at my mother’s lake house to add a festive touch for the holidays. the results are chic, inviting and just waiting for you to pour your favorite evening drink.
*before*
the “before” bar cart area was a bit messy & cluttered with random odds & ends. Amongst the clutter, my mom’s vintage black marble bar cart anchored the area. We cleared off the space to begin fresh, then followed the simple steps listed below to finish our simple holiday bar cart restyle.
choose a color palette
In order to keep the bar area looking chic and styled, we decided on a color palette to keep the look cohesive. We chose metallics, emerald green and chartreuse.
the emerald hue of the faux boxwood wreaths add the illusion of holiday greenery and I centered around that. I also wanted to keep the faux chartreuse pears in the mix due to their winter seasonality. chartreuse was our next color chosen. finally, the vintage decorative ice bucket was a beautiful metallic. I pair with a metallic gold leaf wreath as well as some other silver and gold accents.
add bar staples
a plethora of liquor may have your bar cart appear cluttered. if you have the space for it, add the majority to a pantry or cabinet and simply pull out a few for what you need at that time. I also added a few simple bar necessities to the area that fell within our color palette.
- stainless cocktail shaker
- specialty bitters in a decorative gold bowl
- vintage etched silver ice bucket
- vintage silver jigger
include decorative touches
Below are some items you could find around your home to add to your simple holiday bar cart restyle:
- faux greenery or flowers- I used two small faux greenery wreaths under the shaker and a faux pear as well as simple faux white roses.
- gold wreath- we utilized a medium gold leaf wreath to prop against blank wall space.
- acrylic tray- an acrylic tray doubled in covering some wall space and adding visual interest.
- candy jar- a Waterford keepsake crystal candy jar can be interchanged with christmas candies or treats.
finishing touches
finish your car cart with a few of your favorite vintage keepsakes and something living like fresh herbs or a special lit candle.
- candle: we love this French lemon & crushed olive leaves candle discontinued from world market but we also adore these non-toxic scents from calyan wax co.
- vintage keepsakes: we included the gold angel statue in the glassware cabinet as well as the white angel on the sleigh on the bar cart.
