Emotional literacy isn’t soft…it’s a skill that ge Emotional literacy isn’t soft…it’s a skill that gets wired in early. When we name feelings with our kids (“that sounds like it embarrassed you”), we’re not coddling them. We’re building the neural pathways that let them regulate instead of explode and connect instead of shut down👏🏻

Researchers call it “emotion coaching,” and the data is clear: kids whose parents help them label and sit with hard feelings grow up with stronger relationships, better stress regulation and lower rates of anxiety and depression🧠

The boys especially. We normalize “be tough” and then wonder why grown men can’t say “I’m hurting.” But the ones who learned the words young? They can keep them for life!✨

Which feeling word does your kid use most?🫶🏻

Three years ago at 38, I was drinking multiple gla Three years ago at 38, I was drinking multiple glasses of wine a night. It felt normal especially due to being in the food industry and “mommy wine culture.”

What finally made it stick wasn’t a rock-bottom moment. It was my son. I wanted to be here for him…clear-headed, present and around for a long time.

Here’s what nobody tells women in their 40s about alcohol…this is the decade it works against you the most:

🍷 Your hormones amplify it. In perimenopause your liver metabolizes alcohol more slowly, so it hits harder and lingers longer. Because your liver breaks down both alcohol and estrogen, drinking makes hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings and insomnia worse.

🍷 It wrecks the sleep you’re already fighting for. Alcohol knocks you out fast but then fragments your sleep and suppresses REM…the exact sleep perimenopause is already stealing.

🍷 It spikes and crashes your blood sugar. Your liver drops everything to process alcohol instead of regulating glucose, which is why you wake up at 3am wired, anxious and hungry.

🍷 It quietly raises breast cancer risk. This is the big one no one says out loud: even one drink a day raises a woman’s breast cancer risk by roughly 7–10%, and it climbs from there. Easy no for me.

You don’t need to hit a bottom to decide you deserve better. If you’re sober-curious and reading this…this is your sign🤍
