My Summer Survival Kit starts in the kitchen- and My Summer Survival Kit starts in the kitchen- and a nourishing, protein-packed option with @vitalfarms is always a must. #vitalfarmsvff ☀️

I’ll have my lil’ 4 year old shadow with me 24/7 so I’m focusing on simple, blood-sugar friendly and nutrient dense meals.

1. Pick your tried & true dinners that you know the kids love. Plan to do a DOUBLE batch- I know it will take longer, but I promise you’ll thank me later.

2. Add a summer flair to spice things up and take advantage of the season’s bounty. I started with my Cal’s Meatloaf recipe from my EBOOK then added tons of fresh local herbs, @vitalfarms pastured eggs and served them with in-season local and organic asparagus and steamed rice.

3. Freeze the second potion of dinner to pull out for a no-stress dinner when you don’t want to cook. Make it once, eat it twice.

I hope these tips help *and* follow for more ways to streamline this summer with kiddos☀️

The impending summer months can be extra challenging for those with autoimmune diseases- fatigue that feels bone deep, difficulty losing weight, brain fog, anxiety, inflammation and more.

Here are some of my top tips for avoiding these in the hotter summer months:

1. No screens within first hour of waking- helps keep early morning cortisol from spiking. I love sipping lemon water and doing my @lumeboxpro red light therapy.

2. Morning Sunlight- helps reset and promote a good circadian rhythm for seep restful sleep.

3. Clean-Ingredient Electrolytes- help me stay hydrated and helps prevent some of that sneaky brain fog associated with autoimmune. @just.ingredients are my faves 🍇 🍋‍🟩

4. Daily Gentle Movement- Hashimoto girlies aren’t about that HIIT- I try to avoid high intensity and focus on weighted daily walks and lifting heavy weights 4x a week. I also workout as early as I can to help prevent that afternoon autoimmune slump and to stay cooler in the hot summer months.

5. Having an Afternoon Slump? Grab an Adrenal Cocktail which is amazing for supporting adrenal health AKA STRESS, hydration and blood sugar stability. Should I write up a recipe for mine?🍊🥥

6. Blood-Sugar Balancing Snacks- also help my blood sugar stay stable- make sure to balance complex carbs with healthy fats and plenty of protein🥑🍎🍗

7. Plenty of Restful Sleep- definitely one of my very top daily priorities- 7-8 hours of deep restful sleep is a non-negotiable for me🌖

Do we need a follow up reel for my top tips for deep restful sleep with Hashimoto’s?☀️🌙

I think I’m beginning to understand the term “ I think I’m beginning to understand the term “mid-life crises”. I had my son a little later than most- at 36 and lost my father two years later at 38.

I’m one of the first of my close friends to lose a parent and it’s not a club I wish upon anyone.

Through the new life and loss of a life, it’s led me to focus on ME and the type of person I want to become and the type of person I want my son to remember me by.

Has anyone else felt a huge shift in their self identity after gaining a child and/or losing a parent? 🕊️ Anyone else feel a significant shift after new life or a loss? Let’s talk about it…
