The status symbol of alcohol is officially dead to The status symbol of alcohol is officially dead to me😆 Now we know that alcohol raises women’s risk of breast cancer considerably and literally makes neural pathways in our brain *disappear*. But we choose to drink more when we are going through a stressful time? 

It makes zero sense. I remember distinctly at my father’s funeral over 2 years ago- I probably had about 8 glasses of champagne so I could be on autopilot talking to people. 

My last conversation was with two of my cousins who had stopped drinking recently. I told them I wanted to stop because I was focusing on my health and longevity for my son. 

A few months later, I stopped. And I haven’t looked back since. I still give myself the option to drink if I want, but I really haven’t wanted to. I know that can be different for everyone.

One large English cucumber
juice of two limes 
1 cup coconut water
Splash of maple syrup (to taste)
Large pinch of mineral salt

Blend thoroughly in a high speed blender and store in a mason jar chilled in the fridge.

Balancing blood sugar during the summer doesn’t have to be complicated. Make sure to balance sweet treats with protein, complex carbs and healthy fats *first* to reduce those blood sugar spikes.

Sometimes we all just need a sweet treat! I like to make summer faves like cupcakes but with more nourishing ingredients- no dyes or refined sugar. This also helps with that pesky blood sugar spike! I strive to serve sweets after a balanced meal instead of stand alone.
