Scallion Gruyere Turkey Burgers
These Scallion Gruyere Turkey Burgers are simple to make, family friendly and full of the flavors of summer.
- 2 lbs lean ground turkey do not use extra lean
- 2 Tablespoons whole grain mustard
- ⅓ cup scallions sliced thinly
- ¼ cup gruyere grated with a microplane, plus more to grate atop
- ½ teaspoon granulated garlic
- 2 Tablespoons parmesan grated
- ¾ teaspoon mineral salt
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 20 grinds of freshly-cracked black pepper
- 1 teaspoon avocado oil
- butter lettuce for serving
- sliced heirloom tomatoes for serving
- fresh basil leaves for serving
- mayonnaise and whole grain mustard for serving
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. To a large mixing bowl, add the 9 ingredients to form the turkey burgers.
Divide and form into 6 uniform patties and place on a parchment-lined sheet pan.
Preheat a grill pan over medium-high heat for 3 minutes. Add avocado oil and 2-3 burgers to fit the pan.
Cook, in batches, for 3-4 minutes per side until golden browned. Transfer back to sheet pan and top each burger with your desired amount of grated gruyere.
Bake burgers for an additional 4-5 minutes to finish cooking through.
To assemble burgers, add mayonnaise to one bun half and whole grain mustard to the other.
Add turkey burger, a slice of heirloom tomato, Bibb lettuce leaves and basil leaves. Serve immediately and enjoy!
